I'm not sure if Gertrude Hayes is the first female Art Mistress but certainly the first we have a record of. Gertrude Hayes taught during 1914-1918 and we hold some of her etchings in our collection. #SchoolFirsts #FromTheArchive #WomensHistoryMonth
